Hello poets and poetry lovers. We are back for the petit petits. Join us March 23 for a night of words and song at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf. Our features are Daragh Byrne and Jessie Newling. (bios below) The open mic is as per usual. Show up and throw your name in the hat. Wine, kombucha and cheese and grapes. Gonna be another night of all that feels right in the world.

Daragh Byrne is a Sydney-based Irish poet. His work appears in journals, magazines and newspapers in Australia, Ireland and the UK. In 2022 his work featured in Poetry Wales, Southword, Crannóg, Skylight 47 and Abridged (amongst others). He also won 3^rd prize in the Poetry London competition and was shortlisted for the Val Vallis award.  More recently, he was a finalist in the Fool for Poetry International Chapbook competition. He runs the Sydney Poetry Lounge, a regular open-mic night.

Jessie Newling is a singer, composer and performer who draws on an eclectic range of musical influences. She was born in London, grew up in Sydney and spent the majority of her adult life in the south of Mexico. She started her musical path with the piano, continued on to study composition, electronic music and instrument building. She began to sing while in Mexico as a means to support her young family, performing most nights of the week in the lively music scene there. She returned to Sydney four years ago and began studies at the Conservatorium. She is currently recording her second album, playing with multi-layered voice, analogue and digital sound worlds. For Poetica Petit she will be singing traditional Mexican songs gathered from her years away, and original songs in Spanish. She will be accompanying herself on guitar.
