April 4 – Poems as Prompts #5 – Join Poetica’s Miriam Hechtman for a poetry workshop that uses poems as prompts.  Book here.

April 10 – is just around the corner too and we are so thrilled at Poetica Petit to be able to host the Sydney launch of The Heroines Anthology Vol. 5. In Volume 5 of the Heroines Anthology women poets rewrite or reimagine women in myth, fairy tale, folklore, legend, or history. Come along and meet Ninshubur, Kwannon and Giubiana, Havvah, Rhiannon and Mnemosyne, dryads and selkies, muses, poets, manasa and space explorers, and many more. The launch features poetry readings from Jennifer Harrison, Kathryn Reese, Denise O’Hagan, Tatiana Bonch-Osmolovskaya, Dominique Richards & Heroines Anthology editor, Sarah Nicholson. We will also get to write some poetry on the theme of WITCHCRAFT (the next anthology’s theme) while jazz pianist and composer Gamran Green performs for us. Book here.

And pencil in May 8 for a very special Mother’s Day Poetica Petit – a night of poetry transformed into song exploring the idea of motherhood. Composer Anna Hirst Friedman has transformed some of the poems from Jessica Chapnik Kahn’s book MADRE to song and these will be performed by six vocalists for the first time live. Book here.
